2020 has been tough on many of us for reasons we all know, but today Matt released the acoustic version of what would’ve been this year’s Bed & Breakfast Men Christmas single “Don’t Give Up on Christmas”, an upbeat tune with words of hope and encouragement to see us through the festive season.
So make yourself comfy and click the link above to listen, and remember – don’t give up on Christmas (no, no, no).
The third charity single by The Bed & Breakfast Men.
Limelight, Limelight!
Coming on December 3rd, our favourite double-act, Matt & Nick Holt – The Bed & Breakfast Men debut their third charity single: Limelight!
This song strays from their Nutty roots, and is sure to please. As a tribute to their favourite comedic and musical duos, including Laurel & Hardy, Chas & Dave, Cannon & Ball, just to name a few.
The accompanying music video is nearing completion and the boys say its their best yet.
Look out for details of how to get your limited edition single later this month!
In aid of Mad Chat’s current charity cause, CLIC Sargent.

£3 from every purchase will go to Mad Chat’s current charity cause, CLIC Sargent, helping young people diagnosed with cancer.
Today, Sunday 4th of February is World Cancer Day, an international event to raise awareness of cancer and how important it is that we do everything we can to prevent it.
Here’s a message from Matt about The Bed & Breakfast Men’s support of cancer charities:
““It’s fitting that this year’s Mad Chat charity of choice is CLIC Sargent Cancer charity as our Ukulele duo has its roots in our early incarnation as “The Lonesome Pines” when we busked for a Saturday every year in aid of Cancer Research. It’s something we got the idea for when Suggs promoted “Busking for Cancer” a few years back. The Lonesome Pines morphed into The Bed & Breakfast Men but our aim is the same to sing the songs we love and raise money for a cause that’s close to our hearts, fund raising should be “fun” after all. It was great to hear that Lee Thompson also supports CLIC sargent and was happy to be on board for our last charity single… We are hoping he’s up for the next one, too. So Keep Moving folks and together we can Compete with Cancer and kick it’s ass off the planet someday soon we hope.”
Today Matt and Nick have released a very fitting and encouraging Madness cover mash-up of ‘Keep Moving’ and ‘I’ll Compete’, first performed by Matt at the Mad Chatter’s Tea Party in November 2017.
As you know, the current Mad Chat charity cause is CLIC Sargent, a charity focused on helping young people diagnosed with cancer. Last Christmas the boys released their second charity single, ‘To the Moon (and Back Again)’ in aid of CLIC Sargent.
Thanks again to everyone who did their bit by buying either a CD, download, DVD, or special package – Over £700 was raised to help young people diagnosed with cancer.
Last week a vote was held by Reggae Steady Ska for the best music video of 2017, and well deserving of it, the Bed & Breakfast Men took the win with a very decent 25% of the vote with Dublin Castle, beating even Madness themselves!
Congratulations to everyone involved in the video! You can view the results of the vote here.
The moon is out, and now the mystery of Mr. Moon is revealed – The star behind the mask is none other than Madness’ flying saxophonist, Mr. Lee Jay “Kix” Thompson! I was on location for filming and got a collection of behind the scenes photos, videos, and a couple of outtakes.
So without further ado, here’s some BTS from our pub scene in the B&B music video of ‘To the Moon (and Back Again)’!
‘Ye Olde Mitre Inne’, the Barnet pub we met at to shoot some scenes together, including the big Kix Mr. Moon reveal at the end of the video.
(Left to right) “Chezzer” Chesney, Matt “Mr. Breakfast” Holt, Wayne Kelly, and me Ryan West waiting for our Moon Man to arrive. It was very cold in the garden.
Fashionably late, Thommo checks out his costume…
…Suits up…
…Mask on…
…Blazer pockets…
…He’s ready to go. “Calm down Mr. Moon!”
After shooting a large part of the scene Matt shows Lee the result of his tomfoolery.
Admiring the mask…
Kix and Mr. Breakfast having a laugh.
Slipping into something more comfortable…
The Dream Team.
Thompson admires something familiar.
One last shot for the video.
Me and Chezzer checking out our scenes.
After filming wrapped we ventured up the road to another pub for more drinks and a game of pool.
Thommo sips his drink as he gages how much competition his opponent will bring…
All was looking down for B&B Man Matt, but in a surprise twist at the end of the game he quickly potted ball after ball and won! Had nothing to do with Lee having his back turned (honest!!).
Me and Lee at the end of the night.
I can honestly say that it was one of, if not the most memorable nights of my life. Thanks to Chezzer Chesney, the coolest guy around, for getting Lee involved, and thanks to Matt of the Bed & Breakfast Men for inviting me along.
You can watch the final video, and find out how to order the new single by clicking here.
The new single by The Bed & Breakfast Men is out now!
Mr. Bed, Mr. Breakfast, and, wait – Who is Mr. Moon? Its the question on everyone’s mind. And now night has fallen, the moon is out, and all is finally revealed!
Despite problems seeming to arise at every turn, these fellas do not give up, and have pulled together a brilliant video for their new single, ‘To the Moon (and Back Again)’, which is now available to order, for Mad Chat’s new charity cause CLIC Sargent, who support young people fighting cancer.
There are a limited run of 100 CDs available, costing £5 (which includes UK P&P) sent via PayPal to info@mglmedia.tv . The ‘B Side’ (not actually a B side, just track 2, so don’t try playing it upside-down) is the first B&B hit ‘Dublin Castle’ which is song #0001 on the jukebox at the Dublin Castle herself.
I was lucky enough to be involved in this music video, and will be posting some exclusive BTS (behind the scenes) footage very soon!
The boys got some compliments to never forget from some recognisable faces.
Two days ago (Wednesday 25 October) the boys uploaded their latest cover, ‘No Money’. Right now it has been watched by 62 people, and you may just recognise two of them.
One is Nick Woodgate, who co-wrote the song with Madness, who tweeted to say he loves it.
Matt says “I was thrilled to see that Nick Woodgate had shared our cover of his song “No Money” with his brother Woody. The fact Woody also commented saying ours was better than the original and then sharing it with his followers was just brilliant. So nice that they both liked it”
I’ve tweeted Nick & Woody with invites to join the BBMIS, and I’ll let you all know if they accept. 😉
As our tambourine/harmony master Nick Holt is still unwell let’s all wish him the best at this time.
